STRENGTH IN THE DAY OF TROUBLE.

Nahum 1:7 (KJV)
The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

The day of trouble will certainly come, we never know when or why but we will all experience that day one day but hope and pray that the Lord will strengthen us to go through that day. The strength of the Lord indicates the energy and vitality as well as physical strength which we all will need to face off on the day of trouble.
What will you do in the day of trouble? Would you decide to stay in faith and remain thankful for what God is doing in your life and through His strength or depend on your strength and ability to deliver yourself when trouble comes?
Even if it seems at times like the enemy is prevailing against us in the day of trouble, God will intervene, strengthen us, and help us bear whatever trouble we are facing.
We can be physically strong to do certain chores, lift things and keep going but every area of our lives needs to be filled with spiritual strength. But what is spiritual strength? Through the eyes of the bible, spiritual strength is the power to lift burdens, the foundation that is deep enough to resist external pressure, and the security of unlimited resources available to us through Christ Jesus.
The quality of strength we have in the word of God is what sees us through the day of trouble when it comes- when! Not if, the day of trouble will come if we have breath in us as seen in Psalm 50:15.
Faith is like a muscle that must be exercised to strengthen it and keep it strong by constant use and exercise.
Athletes will recognize and appreciate when they experience a second wind during a sports event. If you’re a sports person, if you run your spiritual race without the strength of God, you’ll not have any stamina or energy to keep going. Scripture promises a spiritual second wind for those who learn to wait on Him because God supplies power to the weak in Isaiah 40:29-30.
God infuses us with His strength to finish our race says Hebrews 12:1-3 when we want to give up, we must go to the source of all strength and wait for that second wind.
Our text reminds us that God is good. Goodness is one of His many wonderful character traits. When something is part of an individual’s character, we can expect Him to always respond in ways that are consistent with that trait. God is good all the time—not just some of the time, all the time, especially in the day of trouble.
What and who do you depend on to see you through your day of trouble? Do not be surprised or afraid of the day of trouble. Jesus said in John 16:33 that in the world we would have tribulation and trials, but we know that He will also strengthen and enable us to do whatever we need to do in life promises Philippians 4:13. God is our Strength, our Refuge, and our Stronghold in the day of trouble.
There is strength only in the Lord, not in anyone or anything else. Look up to the Lord then for strength declare 1 Chronicle 16:11.
Shalom
