DAIL BENEFITS

Psalm 68:19-20

Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. He that is our God is the God of salvation, and unto God, the Lord belong the issues from death.

Have you ever considered what the benefits of being a child of God are? Have you ever taken counsel or record of the things you think are part of your package as a believer? Proverbs 16:1-33. The things, privileges, opportunities, favours, and blessings we enjoy as Christians are only through Christ and are not deserved. Psalm 103:10. Try pulling back from your busy life for a few minutes and ponder all that God has done for you and in you. You may be surprised and encouraged by what you discover. King David counted Israel’s benefits and cites God’s power and his fatherly compassion over them, then erupts in praise in verse 19. The reason for such a celebration? God’s promise that he “daily loads us with benefits.” God daily and fully supplies us all we need. The issues of life and death are under His control, who is the God that saves us and destroys His and our enemies. Our text says God daily loads us with benefits. What is it that he gives us? What sort of benefits? We may even use the word benevolence here, which means good wishing. God’s goodness to us is not merely benevolent, in which he wishes us well, but it is beneficence and doing good. His gifts and benefits are deeds of goodness, acts of goodness. He does to us that which is good always. He does not only wish us well, and speak to us well, but direct us well. Can you think of a benefit you enjoy that came by your own hands and not gifted to you by the Lord? But then think of what you are, you are a Christian. You are God’s child and a joint-heir with Christ. God says all things are yours, you have the guarantee too—preservation to the end, and you have, after the end of this life, glory without end. The many mansions are for you and me. You have a share in all that Christ has, and is, and shall be. God is the one who enables us to keep going. Today and every day you can be confident of his concern and powerful care. God’s promise to me daily says; • I am the Lord. • I am your Saviour. • I daily bear your burdens. There ought to be, in all our hearts a desire to praise God for all He has done for us. Spend time in the Psalm, allow all the wondrous works of the Lord to be revealed to you, allow it to show you that you have so many reasons to praise the Lord. Allow the psalm to show you a few things about the Lord’s benefits too. So, we should realize that God daily loads us with wonderful benefits, as He delivers our soul from death, our eyes from tears, and our feet from falling, Psalm 116:8. In this regard, the psalmist proclaims, “What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits toward me?” Psalm 116:12. Your salvation is a benefit as well. Praise ye the Lord!
