TIED AND DELAYED DESTINY

Matthew 21:1-10 TLB
As Jesus and the disciples approached Jerusalem and were near the town of Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of them into the village ahead. [2] “Just as you enter,” he said, “you will see a donkey tied there, with its colt beside it. Untie them and bring them here.
[3] If anyone asks you what you are doing, just say, ‘The Master needs them,’ and there will be no trouble.”
[4] This was done to fulfil the ancient prophecy,
[5] “Tell Jerusalem her King is coming to her, riding humbly on a donkey’s colt!”
[6] The two disciples did as Jesus said,
[7] and brought the animals to him and threw their garments over the colt for him to ride on.
[8] And some in the crowd threw down their coats along the road ahead of him, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them out before him.
[9] Then the crowds surged on ahead and pressed along behind, shouting, “God bless King David’s Son!”… “God’s Man is here!”… “Bless him, Lord!”… “Praise God in highest heaven!”
[10] The entire city of Jerusalem was stirred as he entered. “Who is this?” they asked.
Are you contending with a miserable past?
Are your current circumstances negative and depressing?
Do you face situations that are so bad it seems there’s no hope?
Are you stuck in a rut, unable to move forward or make any progress because your yesterday affects your today and tomorrow and does not allow you to move on?
Some of us seem to be “at a standstill, not making progress,” because of the situations of life or circumstances we face. Some are stuck in time through bad decisions, choices, or no fault of their own are stuck in a time loop, they can’t move beyond it, and they are not going forwards or backwards.
Some people are so tied down by stuff that they have not even started living, just like the donkey in our text.
A beast of burden should be out labouring, but this colt has never left the stable, it’s been tied and delayed from living and fulfilling its potential and purpose for creation.
We only have one life in Christ, so whatever we do in life must be aligned to the purpose and will of the Father-for what you are created for. If you’re not born-again, you can’t glorify God, just as the colt couldn’t glorify Him by sitting idle.
What’s tied you down that you can’t move forward? What are the issues of life making you mark time, standstill, or delayed?
Fear can be a strong deterrent to life and progress, bereavement and pain can keep one in a time loop and insecurity can delay one from getting out and doing things.
If we allow life to keep us static, we won’t have any work to commit to the Lord according to Proverbs 16:3.
Our steps are ordered by the Lord, so how can we make plans, and conduct our daily businesses, independent of the Lord, even in difficult and confusing times, the Lord still want us to do what He has called us to do.
Christ the saviour is always looking for those willing to be delivered, the colt was stationary with no idea that it needed to be doing more, like many of us, until the Saviour came and cut the bond, the delay that kept the colt stagnant, tied and delayed in fulfilling its destiny.
They say when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade, but some will prefer to either let the lemons rotten or give them away without making use of them: whatever curves life throws us should be used as an opportunity to explore what is inside of us. As the donkey was happy to sit idle in a stable, against nature, that’s what a lot of Christians are doing right now-sitting idle and not using what God has given them to glorify Him for a time like this.
Get a move on, time is wasting, do not allow circumstances and the enemy to keep you tied up that you don’t notice your destiny is delayed and your potential is being unfulfilled. Christ is waiting to untie you and send you out to do His will and to fulfil your destiny.
Shalom
