Daniel 6:20-23 (ASV)
20 And when he came near unto the den to Daniel, he cried with a lamentable voice; the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?
21 Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.
22 My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not hurt me; forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.
23 Then was the king exceeding glad, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he had trusted in his God.
If you’ve ever encountered a storm, you know it’s not a calm or quiet situation. A storm is a violent disturbance of the atmosphere, attended by wind, snow, hail, or thunder and lightning, often, with heavy rain accompanied by wind.
Storms can brew at the drop of a hat in any area of life; financial, material, emotional, physical, and spiritual storms can appear just like that.
When storms rage, they leave a lot of destruction in their wake. As believers, we would go through storms at intervals in life and our chances of coming out of these storms is to anchor on God according to Job 11:18.
When life storms batter us on every side, the only safe place of security is in the Lord and no other.
Daniel recognised that, otherwise, the fear of being thrown into the lions’ den should have deterred him from praying.
Our faith must be uncompromised by the threat of storms but we must stand firm in the knowledge of God’s word, trust His unfailing love to strengthen and shield us in the eye of the storm according to Psalm 28:7 and to deliver us when we call on Him according to Psalm 50:15.
Some situations would arise in life that will blow so violently that we may almost fall on our faces but holding onto the word of God in hope sustains us.
When we are in the eye of the storm, fearful of the outcome and wondering if God will deliver us, we must trust in His promise to send Angels as stated in Psalm 34:7, just as it was done for Daniel in verse 22 where Daniel declared that his God sent Angels to shut the Lions’ mouth.
Even when the mouth of the storm is wide enough to swallow us whole, the Lord will steps in on time to rescue and deliver us as He promises throughout the bible, whispering, “Fear not, I am with you in the storms, winds and waves,”
There are people whose job it is to dive into the eye of the storm-storm chasers, and they’ll quickly tell you that the eye of the storm is the centre of a difficult, stressful, or hectic situation or season. The “eye,” or centre, of a storm, is surrounded by the strongest winds which may knock us down and out.
When you are a God-chaser, you must follow the dictates of Psalm 107:28-31, cry out to God, only He can still the storm.
Whatever storm you’re facing now will last for a while just cling to God, don’t remain in the eye of the storm, don’t allow self-pity, doubt, and fear to keep you stuck within the storm, keep moving until the storm is behind you.
Make the word of God your wing as indicated by Psalm 55:6-8 and allow those wings to take you into the safe place in God.
Daniel was taken uninjured out of the Lion’s den, from the eye of the storm because he trusted in God and found safety in Him. God will shut the roaring lion’s mouth or storms in your life if you believe and have faith in His power of deliverance.
Don’t get comfortable in the eye of the storm!
Shalom
