Genesis 45:16-23 AMP
When the news was heard in Pharaoh’s house that Joseph’s brothers had come, it pleased Pharaoh and his servants. [17] Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Tell your brothers, ‘Do this: load your animals and return to the land of Canaan [without delay], [18] and get your father and your households and come to me. I will give you the best of the land of Egypt and you will eat the fat (the finest produce) of the land.’ [19] Now you [brothers of Joseph] are ordered [by Pharaoh], ‘Do this: take wagons from the land of Egypt for your little ones and for your wives, and bring your father and come. [20] Do not be concerned with your goods, for the best of all the land of Egypt is yours.’” [21] Then the sons of Israel did so; and Joseph gave them wagons according to the command of Pharaoh, and gave them provisions for the journey. [22] To each of them Joseph gave changes of clothing, but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver and five changes of clothing. [23] To his father he sent the following: ten male donkeys loaded with the good things of Egypt, and ten female donkeys loaded with grain and bread and provision for his father [to supply all who were with him] on the journey.
In an age where there is a craze over having and acquiring the best of anything that money can buy and virtually wanting the best of everything, although, I totally believe this to be unattainable, yet as believers, we actually are the race blessed with the best of everything.
According to Psalm 89:11, God is the governor of all things and the dispense of all things-really, all things belong to Him and, He assures the righteous in Psalm 84:11 that nothing good will ever be withheld from them.
God chose the Israelites as His special people and gave them privileges that set them apart from the rest of the world. The same privileges that become ours on accepting Christ as our Lord and saviour.
One of those promises is found in James 1:17 which says that every good and perfect gift comes from the Lord- nothing in this world is truly good unless it comes from above, heaven, down from the Father of lights. God’s character never changes. He always gives good gifts, actually, He gives the best of everything.
Joseph sent his brothers to bring his father and the family to Egypt and out of gratitude for Joseph’s having saved all of Egypt. the pharaoh promised them the best of all the land of Egypt and gave them the finest of the product of Egypt.
In fact, Pharaoh’s very words were “regard not your stuff—Literally, don’t be troubled about your household furniture, agricultural utensils, or anything. They were not to delay coming because all their needs will be met to the highest standard when they arrive in Egypt, Pharaoh himself arranged for their removal, (providing transportation and provision for the journey) and settlement with no bother to them.
The Lord says to you, anywhere the soles of your foot touches will be your and it will offer up its increase, harvest, and its best to you-Psalm 85:12, Deuteronomy 11:24. The best of everything is reserved for you, child of God-the best of the spiritual, material, physical, and much more. The Lord Himself will settle you wherever you need to be and supply all that is needed for your sustenance with no bother to you.
Do not be distracted by trying to acquire what you think is the best of this world that is only temporal, if Pharaoh-a man could invite and offer the best of his land and all in it to the Israelites, won’t you rather trust God to show you where and what the best of everything He’s prepared for you is stored? Matthew 6:25-32.
Pharaoh set up Josephs family to be given the best and the finest when they arrived in Egypt because he knew they needed those things, so too is God willing and able to set you up to be given, to receive, and to achieve the best of everything you are in Jesus name.
Pharaoh gave up the best of everything to the Israelites out of gratitude to Joseph. But God gives us the best of everything out of love. John 3:16.
At Joseph’s and pharaoh’s bidding, the family of Israel did what they were meant to do, that’s called faith- taking a step that will see God’s will accomplished in our lives by following divine and Godly instructions.
Do what God needs you to do and be who He wants you to be, for the best of everything is before you.
Shalom
