TAKE ME DEEPER LORD

Luke 5:4-5 (MontgomeryNT)
4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Push out into deep water, and let down your nets for a haul.”
5 “Master,” answered Simon, “although we toiled all night, we took nothing; but at your bidding I will let down the nets.”

Have you ever thought about your position in Christ? Are you comfortable paddling in the baby pool or are you are constantly striving to make it into the Olympic size pool?
You start out learning to swim in the shallow end but after a while, you’ll want to venture into the deep end so you can enjoy all the benefits that the shallow end of a pool can’t offer. It’s in the shallow water that your feet might touch bottom, and you could slowly move into deeper water as you bounced up and down, remaining secure as long as your toes could feel something under them. You could even scoot around the edges of the pool to avoid the deep, staying safely in your comfort zone and relaxing.
Relaxing our guards is a common occurrence in our everyday lives and it is a dangerous place to live.
Psalm 107:4 gives us the idea that God usually reveals Himself in a tempest and only those who tenaciously hold on to Him, remain and are not drawn in the deep waters.
Jesus said to Peter and to all who come to him, go into deeper water, get into the deep end of the pool, don’t remain in the comfort of the shallow water.
When we come to Christ, we are like those spoken of in 1 Corinthians 3:2who are happy with the elements of Christianity because it’s a comfort zone where we can relax and allow someone to do the heavy lifting of faith walks, making us incapable of understanding the higher truths of the Gospel. Unfortunately, too many remain in this state- shallow waters.
Some spiritual truths and revelations can only be accessed in deeper waters until we cry “take me deeper Lord” and allow the Holy Spirit to guide us into that depth, we keep missing out on things the Lord has hidden in His depth according to 1 Corinthians 2:10.
If we want to know the fullness of God as mentioned in Ephesians 3:18-19, we must allow the Lord to take us deeper, to teach us the ways of the deep which we cannot do in shallow waters, it will require us crucifying the flesh as states in Galatians 5:24.
Perter was a professional and seasoned fisherman who could teach Christ a few things about fishing, especially that fishing is done at night but hey, he cast his net and boom-an overhaul. Fishing in shallow water could net him that net-breaking catch.
Is the Lord urging you to go into deeper water? Are you crying and seeking to go deeper in the Lord? When we find ourselves in deep water, we must remember that the Lord is great, and above all gods.
The Christian walk was never meant to be storm-free but to transform the storms of doubt in our hearts. It’s been said that all the water in the world can’t sink the smallest boat unless it gets inside.
If we want all the blessings from God we must move away from the old, comfortable, familiar, and shallow water of life into deep waters.
Allow the Lord to take you into deeper waters of faith, word, worship, and joy, for this is where net-breaking blessings and miracles are found.
Take me deeper Lord!
Shalom
