SUGAR-COATED TONGUE.

2 Timothy 4:3-5 (KJV)
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

The times the bible warns of is now: we live in a generation where no one wants to endure sound teaching, doctrines and preaching; where people are after messages that pander to their lusts and desires. They prefer a feel-good message that ministers to the ego to the truth of the gospel.
We add sugar to anything that doesn’t taste good to make it better, but this addition is not always good or healthy for you, which then takes away the nutritional value.
Preaching the message of Christ should make people repent and turn back from sin and not allow them to live in false love, and grace which is turned into lewdness, see Mark 6:11-12. However, many Christians preach God’s love and grace without mentioning why God loves and shows grace.
We have Christians, ministers included, who think that it’s better to have a popular and appealing presentation of the gospel instead of the hard truth as laid out by the scriptures. Sugar-coating the gospel to satisfy their audience by not revealing the hard and gruesome truth.
Jesus did not sugar-coat his message, he was brutal to the point of rudeness to the stubborn hearers,
What good is the gospel if we just sugar-coat it and make it presentable and acceptable to the sinner who needs to hear the hard truth of the gospel?
AW Tozer said, “when people sugar-coat Christianity, arrange it all nicely, they have, in effect, taken away the cross.” This is so true, as the biggest difference in other religions is the message of the cross.
There is no real conversion in sugar-coated doctrine, as such messages are not an accurate presentation of the gospel, all it does is create false converts. Many come to faith but don’t even understand the gospel. That has created Christians whose expectations of their faith are struggling to reconcile the message they received at conversion to the real message and God of the bible, while so many think they are saved when they are not according to Matthew 7:21-23.
They swallow all the excess sugar from preachers who chose to be clowns entertaining goats than pastors tending to the sheep.
Christ did not preach a sugar-coated message. He declared that those who do not believe in His Word and follow the desires of sin belongs to the Devil in John 8:33, 35, 44.
The word from the pulpits today is too often weakened, to empower God’s people. Sugar-coated doctrines have lots of lights, lots of spectacle, lots of fun, and appeal to the eyes and ears.
They cause the hearers to feel good and want more but never challenge them to grow. Sadly, sugar-coated messages have become the main course of our spiritual diets rather than strong meat that strengthens our souls according to 1 Peter 2:2.
We have reduced the word of God to either cuss words, abbreviations, and relevant grammar. The bible will forever be relevant according to Jude 3 and no Christian has the right to use gimmicks to make God’s word relevant.
We are to share the true gospel and never sugar-coat because we don’t want to offend someone, better you offend them to save them from eternal condemnation. Even if no one will listen and hear, do not sugar-coat the message.
Shalom
