STEWARDSHIP!

1 Peter 4:10 (The voice)
Use whatever gift you’ve received for the good of one another so that you can show yourselves to be good stewards of God’s grace in all its varieties.

Stewardship is the collective responsibility given to mankind in Genesis 1:18 to have dominion over the earth, care for it, and manage it for His glory. We all must manage the resources of life even as we acknowledge that God is the provider.
The Bible concept of stewardship began with Adam and Eve shows God as owner and provider of all that everyone possesses. Since all things belong to Him, all must be used for His purposes and glory as seen in Psalm 24:1-3. We are meant to seek God’s mind and will on every decision we make regarding finances, resources, properties, time, influence, and opportunities. God not only expects that we return a portion of what He gives us as tithes and offerings, but He also expects all to be used in ways that please and honour Him.
God wants us all to daily exercise responsible stewardship on His behalf in everything we do.
Jesus tells a story about the landowner in Luke 19:11-26 who gave three men money to spend, save or invest. Each did as he saw fit with what he was given and tendered their account at the return of their boss. Those who multiplied their money were entrusted with more and the one who failed, had his taken away.
We must act like brokers with the resources that we’ve been given, these may include people, money, wisdom, gifts and talents. Life is not all about what you acquire on earth but what you store in heaven says Matthew 6:19-21.
We are stewards of everything God created and handed over to us for management, it is, therefore, our responsibility to show good stewardship, and obey God’s directives regarding His resources. God will bless us tremendously but if we disobey and won’t allow the devourer to destroy whatever we produce, we, therefore, need to be good managers of every resource at our disposal made clear in Malachi 3:8-12.
2 Corinthians 9:6-11 is the go-to verse for kingdom investment principles, where Paul compares good stewardship to farming, seeing God-given resources as a farmer views seed sowing; free and open-handed. A good farmer sows in large or generous amounts, not in a precise manner but loosely to ensure a wide and even spread of seeds for a good harvest.
Unfortunately, a lot of believers find it difficult to invest their resources in kingdom business because they are limited in their knowledge in thinking that the resources belong to them.
Luke 8:3 shows us what it means to be good stewards, Joanna, Susanna, and the other women were wealthy and positioned, who stewarded their wealth by using it for kingdom business and to God’s glory.
Like the servants in the Parable of the minas, one day we will all be called by the rightful owner of the things entrusted to us, to give an account of our stewardship of everything we were given, including time, money, abilities, information, wisdom, relationships, and authority says Romans 14:12.
Faithful stewardship has its reward according to Colossians 3:22-23, doing everything as unto God. Every faithful steward who does the master’s will should expect a reward here and in eternity as part of our inheritance in Christ. Be a faithful and good steward.
Shalom
