John 14:1 (AMP)
DO NOT let your hearts be troubled (distressed, agitated). You believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely on God; believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely also on Me.
A crisis is the point of time when a difficult or important decision must be made. A time when it is to decide whether a course of action must go on or be modified or be terminated, the decisive moment for a turning point. A crisis is a natural part of life.
We hate crisis normally! Usually, a crisis is crushing, physically and emotionally exhausting! Crises in our lives and ministries often cannot be avoided! We face crises regularly, in finances, occupation, family, marriage, church life and health. Job notes in 5:7 that man is born to trouble and given to adversity, pointing out that the reality of trouble is as common and dependable as sparks flying upward from a campfire.
Romans 8:38-39 tells us all the kind of crisis that we could face in life-but says these crises should not separate us, who love God, from the love of God.
Ephesians 1:11 explains that God has planned out the details of our lives and that He uses those details consistent with His providential plan in making us more like His Son. Included in His plan is… crisis! The implication here is that, as hard as you and I might try to avoid it, these times of personal chaos and threat are simply unavoidable! So, if we can’t avoid it, it’s important to consider how God would have us face it.
One way to look at the crisis is as the Chines do, as a dangerous opportunity. Every crisis brings an opportunity! The opportunity means that we go into crisis one way but come out of it in diverse ways and places.
Some will react to crisis with the standard “woes, why me, how can the Lord allow this.” think of all the people in the scriptures who went through a crisis, but they took solace in the word of God and the power of His might.
Change is inevitable in life, that includes crisis-it could be divorce, death, bankruptcy, sickness or anything, the one constant and unchangeable variable is God who has promised to never leave nor forsake His own.
David, above every other bible character, knows the full meaning of crisis- but in psalm 131:2, he said he had behaved and quieted himself, as a child and he remained silent under affliction was proof that he didn’t murmur, but received all as coming from the hands of a just God. Yes, a just God who will not allow us, according to 1 Corinthians 10:13 to face crisis beyond our endurance. Besides, God will not allow us to suffer more than the strength He gives us; but as the crisis, He provides us with wisdom, discernment, grace to overcome and the opportunity to gain new knowledge, ability, and spiritual maturity whilst providing us with sufficient strength to resist the crisis; as the crisis comes in, He will make your way out.
Whatever crisis you are facing in your life right now, should push you deeper into the word of God, lower in humility to the foot of the cross and loudly without shame cry out for help because no matter what and look closely and deeply to see the opportunities that may arise out of the crisis. God’s grace will always be sufficient for us-2 Corinthians 12:9.
The Lord does not have abandoned projects, you won’t be His first! Let the crisis be an opportunity for change.
