MY LABOUR WILL NOT BE IN VAIN

Luke 5:1-6 (AMP)
1 NOW IT occurred that while the people pressed upon Jesus to hear the message of God, He was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret (Sea of Galilee).
2 And He saw two boats drawn up by the lake, but the fishermen had gone down from them and were washing their nets.
3 And getting into one of the boats, [the one] that belonged to Simon (Peter), He requested him to draw away a little from the shore. Then He sat down and continued to teach the crowd [of people] from the boat.
4 When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon (Peter), Put out into the deep [water], and lower your nets for a haul.
5 And Simon (Peter) answered, Master, we toiled all night [exhaustingly] and caught nothing [in our nets]. But on the ground of Your word, I will lower the nets [again].
6 And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish; and as their nets were [at the point of] breaking.

Proverbs 14:23 says there is profit in all labour, if we work at anything, it will yield an increase of profit.
Many people in life labour in vain with little or no result. Many people spend time and resources investing in enterprises for their future but when it is time for them to reap from their investment, there will be little or nothing to show for it, Matthew 13:24-30, or someone else will reap from their labour. No one on earth would like to labour without positive results.
We do everything right, labouring in all areas of our lives, yet we catch nothing, we see no blessings or favour, we receive no reward for our labour.
The light of God in us is supposed to glorify and showcase us for God, Matthew 5:16, but the enemy wants to turn your glory to shame and colour you unfavourable.
When you obey the word and instructions of the Lord, no matter how mundane, your glory begins to take a new dimension and becomes lifted.
What is in your hand? Whatever God has put in your hand is to glorify Him and so cannot be in vain. Exodus 4:2-3.
These men laboured all night and caught nothing until they meet The Master and obeyed His instructions. For one thing, if you have been labouring in shallow waters, like the fishermen, you may not be catching anything yet, so, just as the Lord commanded; “go into deeper waters and let down your nets.” Verse 4.
Location may not be an issue in your labouring when you are in Christ, Deuteronomy 11:24 and Genesis 47:6. But you must apply the principles of the scriptures to whatever you’re doing, Colossians 3:23, Ecclesiastes 9:10.
Look again at Luke 4, what changed to bring a harvest of plenty? It was the same boat. The same water/river. The same net. So, nothing changed! But something changed! JESUS stepped into the boat and their labour.
You too need Jesus to step into your boat and matter. You may not need to change location or job, it’s not about your connection, your network or your background- it’s all about Jesus.
When you follow the scriptural instructions of Colossians 3:23 the Lord promises to not only give you the power to labour but He helps us profit in that labour. Deuteronomy 8:18, Isaiah 48:17.
The Lord is entering into your business in this season. Proverbs 16:3. Don’t give up on your labour, even if it’s tedious and challenging, it will be profitable.
The change you need is about to step into your boat. Your story is about to change, and your light is about to shine brighter. Luke 1:37.
You have laboured and you shall eat the fruit of the labour, 2 Timothy 2:6, you will not store up for someone else to spend but will live on the produce of your labour according to Psalm 128:2.
The tide will turn in time, but you must trust the Lord and leave Him room in your boat to work with you. You certainly shall not labour in vain.
Shalom
