LYING SPIRIT

1 Timothy 4:1 (MSG)
1 The Spirit makes it clear that as time goes on, some are going to give up on the faith and chase after demonic illusions put forth by professional liars.

Don’t believe everything you hear; they may be lies! Truth has a context, which is the Bible.
The father of lies according to John 8:44, tried to deceive Jesus Christ by using scripture truths out of context in Matthew 4:1-11.
Satan destroyed humanity with a lie, which continues today. A lie is a lie-there are no shades of it. People lie for all kinds of reasons, but a lie is still a lie and a sin.
Spiritual lies are counterfeits to faith, and we must not believe every teacher without checking them against the Holy Spirit. God permits strong delusion to occupy the minds of liars; these don’t believe anything they are told because they are liars who expect everyone to be lying, so they believe a lie rather than the truth, prefer false erroneous doctrines to the pure truths of the Gospel and are ready to receive a false Messiah as seen in 2 Thessalonians 2:8-11.
The Bible reveals that the antichrist will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction because they refuse to believe and accept the truth that would save them. One of the characteristics of the antichrist is the lying spirit and the Lord admonishes us to not be quick to believe every spirit.
People are willing and desperate to hear from God through a prophet and are ready to accept any lies peddled in the name of God but be aware that these prophetic words are vain and gratifying to the appetite of the false teachers, according to Lamentations 2:14.
The lying spirit will deceive many with counterfeit miracles, and with unlimited seduction to evil, with great misleading influence in the world when his time comes.
One lie always leads to another and gets deeper and bigger. We tell one small lie in an inconsequential matter but soon graduate to a normal way of speaking.
The lying spirit aims to control the mind of man and take the focus away from God. All forms of superstition, falsehood, divination, boasting, astrology, horoscope and attention-seeking are under the domain of the lying spirit.
A lying spirit deceived the prophets of Ahab as prophesied by Micaiah in 2 Chronicles 18:18-22. God’s judgment is coming on the false prophets, who operate by ‘lying spirit’ according to Jeremiah 23:25-32.
As followers of Christ, especially leaders, we must thoroughly renounce and reject the lying spirit to stop deception in the body of Christ.
We must handle the things of God in an open and honourable manner states 2 Corinthians 4:2.
We can only go far with God and man by the truth.
Accountability is a proven ground for promotion and lie is not a characteristic of accountability.
Try to tell the truth always. If you lie, then find a way to tell on yourself. Otherwise, no one will trust you, not even yourself.
Proverbs 12:22 says God can’t stomach liars, they are an abomination to Him. Lies distort one’s life.
Overcoming a lying spirit is by prayer, discipline, and accountability. Be deliberate before you speak and extremely intolerant of the temptation to lie. Lies are lazy but exceedingly difficult and intricate work, it’s never easy to keep up with the lies.
Shalom
