LEAP OF FAITH

Hebrews 11:1 (ESV)
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

What is a leap of faith? Leap of faith is a common idiom used to express a self-propelled movement upwards or forwards, to believe in something with no evidence for it or to attempt an action that has little chance of success without considering the consequences.
Faith is the subsistence of things hoped for and the demonstration of things not yet seen. The word substance, signifies subsistence, that which becomes a foundation for another thing to stand on.
And evidence signifies a conviction produced in the mind of a person and the demonstration of the conviction demands that you do something you have never done to get something you’ve never had.
Things hoped for—these are peace and the favour of his God, and every other thing with God’s official approval. When this is received, we have the full conviction of the truth though unseen by the eye, these things are felt by the heart, and there’s no doubt of God’s approval.
We leap into the circular and financial situation without batting an eyelid because of the confidence we’ve placed on our knowledge, qualifications, abilities and network, sometimes with more expectation than necessary but we are scared of leaping into things we expect the word of God to pilot; that we exercise more faith in things we know and understand is obvious from the way we react to the action.
As John 20:29 puts it, we prefer to act and believe on things we see and know rather than acting only on the word.
And many more believed because of his word says John 4:41- “because of his word”, these people were propelled to move forward just at the word of the master, not at the evidence of performance, not at the conviction of others but just by hearing the word of God.
Suffice to say, Romans 10:17 gives us all the push we need to take that leap of faith required to get us to where we so desperately want to be but are too afraid to go to. Since we cannot see God with our physical eyes, we must have faith that He is there within our spirit and viewed through spiritual eyes, so, don’t allow fear to stop you from taking that leap.
When we understand this, we can then jump from material concepts to the immaterial with a “leap of faith.”
Every sphere of society will require us to leap with faith to access the next level. Marriage is a leap of faith, you don’t see or know how things will work out, our businesses or careers require a leap of faith especially if we’re just starting.
If we aim to reach for all the Lord has in store for us, we must like all the saints of old outlined in Hebrew 11, take that leap of faith, no matter how difficult, painful, and long it takes knowing that we are not leaping impulsively into the unknown but unto the trusted and true foundation that is Christ Jesus.
Exercising faith in God often requires taking a risk and 2 Corinthians 5:7 tells us to leap and live by faith, not by what we see or know.
Our leap of faith is backed by Godly assurance and certainty based on God’s Word.
Shalom
