LAW WITH GRACE

John 1:17 (AMP)
For while the Law was given through Moses, grace (unearned, undeserved favor and spiritual blessing) and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Every sector of life is governed by Law. According to Webster’s dictionary, the law is a rule of being or of conduct, established by an authority able to enforce its will; a controlling regulation; the mode or order according to which an agent or a power act.
A law may be universal or particular, written, or unwritten, published or secret. From the nature of the highest laws a degree of permanency or stability is always implied; but the power which makes a law, or superior power, may annul or change it. Laws are therefore implicitly changeable.
Everyone knows the 10 commandments, unfortunately not everyone believes in it, just as everyone knows about grace and still not everyone trusts in it or I should say, most people confuse it for leniency, Romans 6:15.
The law that was given to Moses was not a show of grace: it commanded men to “obey” and condemned them to death if they failed to obey. The law told man what was right but did not give man the power to do the right thing.
The quickest and easiest way to get someone to break the law is to stringently tell them not to do something.
Even when the law is broken, man decides which law is punishable and how, who gets punished and who goes free, but grace treats every lawbreaker as equal-the punishment or dare I say, the mercy never fits the crime.
Then grace came in the form of Jesus Christ, along with the truth. Jesus declared in Matthew 5:17-18 that He came to fulfil the Law and not to abolish them, at the same time emphasizing the eternal nature of the Word of God and in doing so, Jesus obtained our eternal salvation from deserved death of the law to save by grace according to Ephesians 2:8. Grace and truth did not come to enforce the laws and to judge man but to save and deliver those willing to accept their inability to save themselves from sin. Acts 4:12, Romans 10:9, and John 3:17.
Grace is mercy when we don’t expect or deserve it. Scriptures tell us how God extended grace to us by offering us salvation that far outweigh our sinful nature — eternal life for free but purchased and paid for by grace, not law.
Christ not only brought us grace but showed us the truth. He could and still says with a clear, loud voice “I am the truth”. Christ’s absolute honesty and faithfulness are evident in His words and works. Matthew 16:16.
Grace begins with God and is given freely by God. His graciousness to us is our example for extending grace and mercy to others and not indulge in the penalty of the law.
Grace cannot be earned; it is freely given but it cost the blood of the lamb.
Law is the face of humanity full of all kinds of discrimination, emotions, and probability. Grace on the other hand, though not often seen, is not faceless, it is the face of the Lamb of God, slain from the foundation of the world, full of glory, mercy and pardon for justifiable offence but justly overlooked and forgiven.
Let grace speak for you in Jesus’ name.
Shalom
