Micah 2:1-3 (HCSB)
1 Woe to those who dream up wickedness and prepare evil ⌊plans⌋ on their beds! At morning light they accomplish it because the power is in their hands.
2 They covet fields and seize them; they also take houses. They deprive a man of his home, a person of his inheritance.
3 Therefore, the LORD says: I am now planning a disaster against this nation; you cannot free your necks from it. Then you will not walk so proudly because it will be an evil time.
People are constantly plotting! Plotting how to ruin another, destroy a person’s reputation, business, family and life. Greedy people are always plotting ways of how to get more, unfortunately, almost all plotting is evil intended.
Scheming of all sorts are usually done in secret because the plotter thinks only to their benefit by exploiting others, situations and opportunities.
Plotting is a secret plan to accomplish some purpose, especially a hostile, unlawful, or evil purpose carried out either by one with authority and power or the ability to carry out the scheme.
Someone is always plotting against another, as David found out in Psalm 31:13, not only could he hear their whispering, but he also saw the manifestation of their schemes all around him.
Peradventure, someone, somewhere is plotting against you, the Lord assures you in Psalm 21:11 though, that whatever their evil plotting, it will not succeed.
Proverbs 6:12-14 describes a schemer as a worthless or wicked person without a shred of righteousness but with a heart full of evil desire to plant distrust and sow disunity wherever they go.
Does this sound like you or someone you know? Someone who is always looking for ways to distract, sow distrust and discord among people with made-up tails for their own end goal.
According to Psalm 37:12, it would seem like the wicked are habitually plotting and scheming against the righteous, as they plotted against Paul to kill him in Acts 9:23.
There are all kinds of evil plots and schemes going on in the world; political parties plotting and scheming to discredit and bring down another party, business rivals plotting how to outdo themselves in getting ahead, coup plot after coup plot, even churches trying to outdo each other-plotting how to grow and expand by poaching other people’s flock.
Proverbs 30:32 says to cover your mouth if you have plotted evil, that is if as James 3:4-6 states, you’re unable to control your speech and mouth-cover it, keep quiet; if all that will come out of your mouth is evil scheming, then don’t speak.
What are you plotting, who are you plotting against? Remember, Ephesians 4:31 gives a list of what we should avoid-things which may well make us plot against another.
Evil plotters’ agendas include causing chaos, rift, division, breaking a confidence, causing sympathy and destroying socio-economics status for an organisation or personal benefit.
Evil plotting is a vicious cycle, there is always a plotter lurking and plotting against the plotter according to Galatians 5:15; because of evil scheming, there will be mutual biting, devouring and destruction of one another.
Zechariah 8:17 tells us not to plot evil in our hearts against another for God hates such things.
But why on earth would someone spend time plotting the downfall of another?
Greed! Wickedness! Envy! Anger! And whatever reason comes to a person’s mind.
God says in verse 1 of our text that He’s got plans (woe) to those who carry out such injustice, His plans will be disastrous to those who plot and scheme to bring others down.
Proverbs 6:16-19 counts evil plotting as one of the things God hates, that is a person who sows discord, distrust and destroys-an affiliate of Satan according to John 10:10. The Lord will not let them go unpunished who plot evil says Proverbs 16:5.
