DEEPER WATER.

Ezekiel 47:1-12 CSB
Then he brought me back to the entrance of the temple and there was water flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east, for the temple faced east. The water was coming down from under the south side of the threshold of the temple, south of the altar.
[2] Next he brought me out by way of the north gate and led me around the outside to the outer gate that faced east; there the water was trickling from the south side.
[3] As the man went out east with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a third of a mile and led me through the water. It came up to my ankles.
[4] Then he measured off a third of a mile and led me through the water. It came up to my knees. He measured off another third of a mile and led me through the water. It came up to my waist.
[5] Again he measured off a third of a mile, and it was a river that I could not cross on foot. For the water had risen; it was deep enough to swim in, a river that could not be crossed on foot.
[6] He asked me, “Do you see this, son of man?” Then he led me back to the bank of the river.
[7] When I had returned, I saw a very large number of trees along both sides of the riverbank.
[8] He said to me, “This water flows out to the eastern region and goes down to the Arabah. When it enters the sea, the sea of foul water, the water of the sea becomes fresh.
[9] Every kind of living creature that swarms will live wherever the river flows, and there will be a huge number of fish because this water goes there. Since the water will become fresh, there will be life everywhere the river goes.
[10] Fishermen will stand beside it from En-gedi to En-eglaim. These will become places where nets are spread out to dry. Their fish will consist of many different kinds, like the fish of the Mediterranean Sea. [11] Yet its swamps and marshes will not be healed; they will be left for salt.
[12] All kinds of trees providing food will grow along both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. Each month they will bear fresh fruit because the water comes from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be used for eating and their leaves for healing.”

Nobody jumps into a pool if they don’t know how to swim like me! even if you can swim a little, you’ll still be cautious of going into the deep end of the pool if you can’t maintain the stamina and sustain yourself, you’ll prefer to remain in your comfort zone.
Christ calls us out of our comfort zone to serve. It takes a deepening faith to hear His call and be obedient to the end. Our faithfulness to Him glorifies the Kingdom and bring others to a deepening of their faith.
Water represents life and the work of the Holy Spirit according to John 7:37-39. Verse 1 represents “the water of life as proceeding out of the throne of God and the Lamb.” His throne was set up in the temple at Jerusalem in Ezekiel 43:7.
We must desire and thirst for God desperately to push us to deeper waters, we go from one step to one level up to the ankles and to the knees, and deeper still when things seem beyond our reach.
Water is a vital source in life, it refreshes the body and soul, water cleanses, and sustains us according to John 4:14. We must get to the point where we overflow and are overwhelmed by the waters of the river of God. The river of God doesn’t leave us how and where He finds us or in the condition it was. The river of God heals everything it touches.
The first ministry of the river of God is seen in Genesis 2:10, only one river flowed from Eden, feeding the ancient rivers that watered the entire mighty oceans we know and flowing from the temple is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells according to Psalm 46:4.
The freshwater river of God supports and heals all those who are sheltered by the river, and it waters the everlasting fruit trees that have leaves that can be used to cure the nations according to Revelation 22:2.
These waters of God signify the gospel of Christ, that went out from Jerusalem, and spread abroad, with the gifts and powers of the Holy Ghost which accompanied it and produced blessed effects. Christ is that Temple.
The river of God is full of water, full of His limitless resources says Psalm 65:9, able to strengthen feeble knees, lift dropped hands and downcast head, the river is deep enough to swim in.
An encounter with the river of God is one of spiritual drowning, an encounter where we can have a net-breaking catch. You don’t catch fish in shallow waters, not on the shore, you’ve got to go deep to find anything of value.
The only way we will ever fulfil our destinies and succeed at being our true selves is to take many giant steps of faith by stepping out into the unknown and launching out into deeper waters, as recorded in Luke 5:4, it can be frightening, but the river of God can sustain you. Dive in, plunge into the river of God, the life-giving water, into the deeper waters to draw in the mercies, blessings, favour, and graces of God for God is in the deeper waters.
Shalom
