BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE.

Malachi 3:16-18 (ESV)
16 Then those who feared the LORD spoke with one another. The LORD paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the LORD and esteemed his name.
17 “They shall be mine, says the LORD of hosts, in the day when I make up my treasured possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him.
18 Then once more you shall see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him.

Everybody likes to be remembered, even the wicked and unrighteous would want to be remembered for something. We promise to remember someone for something, just as we are promised the same, sadly some of those promises are never remembered.
The Lord promises to remove shame and dishonour from us so that we don’t remember them anymore. In fact, God promises that in the place of shame and dishonour, He will pour upon us a twofold blessing. We will possess double of whatever we lost, and we then have everlasting joy in Isaiah 61:7.
We need to take our stand and be rooted deeply in the word of God and not in the experiences of life like shame, disappointment, and dishonour.
The Lord listens in and to every conversation we have and a greater awareness of this fact would probably cause us to change some of our conversations. When our conversations please God, He records them in the book of remembrance according to Vs 16 and we all want to be remembered for something, super things preferably.
Nobody wants to be forgotten, especially not by loved ones, it doesn’t really matter if everybody forgets you because who you want to always remember you is God.
Imagine God remembering you for specific things you’ve done and blesses you accordingly, to be remembered for your loyalty, good deeds you’ve done and for godly words you’ve spoken over time, see Psalm 106:3-4.
As much as we all want to be remembered, it’s certainly not for anything negative or bad, so before you can ask the Lord to open the book of remembrance for you, you must always walk in justice and righteousness. These are the good seeds you can ask the Lord to remember you on.
The book of remembrance is where all your seeds and works are written and your tears are recorded according to Psalm 56:6, if God were to open your book of remembrance today would He find anything to remember you for?
Some of us have been crying for a long time, we have shed lots of tears of disappointments, discouragement, injustice, sufferings, and pain, waiting for God to remember us. Whatever has caused your tears, be rest assured that the Lord sees and counts them to be remembered in due time.
You could be like Hezekiah and cry to the Lord to open a book of remembrance for all your services to Him. You may have been forgotten at work, in your church, or by your family but God will never forget you according to Isaiah 38:1-8.
God made His covenant with Abraham, an unconditional covenant that runs over to us and He remembers His covenant forever, that’s a long time to remember someone or thing, right? God remembers forever according to Psalm 105:8.
Can God forget anyone? Would your creator really forget your labour, sacrifice, seed, and faithfulness? Absolutely not! God and only God can and will backdate His book of remembrance to reward His children for all their labour to Him and you are one of His children, aren’t you? Even some mothers can forget their children according to Isaiah 49:14-26, but God says He’ll never forget any of His own.
Shalom
