Psalm 8:6 (ESV)
You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet,
The literal meaning of dominion is to rule in a variety of contexts, including to have control or influence over something, to outweigh them. God gave us sovereign or supreme authority; the power to govern and control nature; independent right of possession, and control over all of creation in Genesis 1:28.
In Psalm 8:6, we see that God placed all things under our feet and gave us dominion over all His creation. By giving us dominion over the land and animals, God is giving humanity the right to control and have power over all other living beings.
These words do not indicate that we are supposed to allow our problems or the devil and his demons to intimidate, dominate, and oppress us if we operate by faith, the blessing of glory and honour with which the Lord our God has crowned us will not elude us.
Life happens to every one of us, but some have lost control of themselves, surrendered to situations they feel powerless to change, while some just lack the zeal to keep fighting upstream in a downward flow of life challenges.
we are meant to rule under God and to be the physical carrier of God’s Spirit in the earth. The Lord’s desire for us is to oversee everything under heaven. He referenced this idea in a slew of other scriptures, including our theme text.
God made us in His image and gave us total authority over everything He created. Nothing is exempted from our dominion; dominion is not for us to rule roughly over others or mismanage God’s creation and resources but to rule over them with the sense of stewardship, diligence, and integrity.
Satan can only operate under the limited power and authority accorded him by a man so, we must learn to bring Satan down to a manageable size in every area of our lives by exercising the dominion that belongs to us through Christ Jesus.
Dominion is part of our inheritance in Christ, it’s one of the things that Jesus purchased for us on the cross but we need to be aware of the areas where we’ve given governance to the enemy and take it back by standing on the authority of the word of God.
Luke 10:19 says God has given us dominion, power and authority over the enemy, and nothing shall hurt us, this shows us that the glorious power of faith to “overcome the world” and “quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one is in us already as stated in 1 John 5:4 and Ephesians 6:16.
Arise and dominate wherever you are: at work, as a mother, father, daughter, son, as an employer or employee, as a friend, basically we need to dominate and be in dominion over the works of our hands and His creation in Psalm 72:8. Remember that God has already given us absolute dominance and control in Genesis 1:28 over the earth, unconditional power, an unqualified authority over all of God’s creation including and especially Satan.
Dominion is not the authority to work against God’s creation, but the ability to work for it.
Do not allow the enemy to steal any more from you, activate and use your dominion card, it’s your right as a child of God.
Shalom
