Galatians 6:9 (KJV)
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
And it came to pass! This too shall pass are expressions used to comfort someone going through a tough time.
Everything in life has a start date and an end date attached. We see dates on goods telling us how long we can keep them unopened, opened (sometimes where to keep them), the use by date and expiration date. This is in keeping with the health and safety requirement of the manufacturer to stop you from either getting poisoned and getting sick or worse killed from their products.
And it came to pass is found 396 times in the King James. This is to remind us that any situation we face doesn’t last forever; they come to pass. Whatever hard times and crises we go through don’t come to stay, instead they come to pass.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 states that there is an appointed time for every situation, a specific point in time for a situation to start and to end.
Let us not be weary in waiting, doing, praying— there is always a danger of growing weary, or getting tired of waiting for the manifestation of whatever we are believing the Lord for but Hebrews 10:36 encourages that the reward is only attainable if we persist in waiting even when we don’t know the end date.
And it came to pass!
There will be situations that look and sound impossible, but God is continually faithful to bring them to pass.
I find Joshua 21:45 very encouraging regarding God’s promises and fulfilment. Joshua declares to the children of Israel that everything God promised them, every situation they’ve been in will and did come to pass.
In due season we shall reap—in time, at the right or appropriate time and at the appointed time. Every crop planted is harvested in due season regardless of how fast the farmer wants the harvest, he must wait for it. So, as believers, we mustn’t relax in our doing good, serving in ministry, carrying on with our assignments, praying and more until we receive our reward.
And this too shall pass! Don’t get discouraged! Whatever trials and tests you are facing now won’t last forever. One day you will look back on them and realize they were all part of God’s plan and tests to make and mould you into the person He wants you to be according to James 1:2-4.
And it came to pass means the Lord is utterly true to his good promises and will bring them to pass in His time as states in Ecclesiastes 3:11. It simply tells us that whatever God has promised has a life expectancy and will only happen at the expected time.
1 Kings 2:1 says, “and it came to pass,” what God had already revealed to Elijah about his departure from earth, in the meantime, God took him on what would appear as a fruitless journey until the chariot of fire took him up.
And it came to pass!
And Isaac came to pass in Genesis 21.
And Samuel came to pass in 1 Samuel 1.
And Joseph’s dream came to pass in Genesis 41:37-57.
And it came to pass that the children of Israel left Egypt in Exodus 13:17 after 430years.
And whatever you are going through shall come to pass!
Shalom
