Daniel 2:17-23 (BBE)
17 And Daniel went to his house and gave his friends Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah the news:
18 So that they might make a request for the mercy of the God of heaven in the question of this secret; so that Daniel and his friends might not come to destruction with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.
19 Then the secret was made clear to Daniel in a vision of the night. And Daniel gave blessing to the God of heaven.
20 And Daniel said in answer, May the name of God be praised for ever and ever: for wisdom and strength are his:
21 By him times and years are changed: by him kings are taken away and kings are lifted up: he gives wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to those whose minds are awake:
22 He is the unveiler of deep and secret things: he has knowledge of what is in the dark, and the light has its living-place with him.
23 I give you praise and worship, O God of my fathers, who have given me wisdom and strength, and have now made clear to me what we were requesting from you: for you have given us knowledge of the king’s business.
No one can see in the dark!
Light is everywhere and overshadows everything even darkness!
No matter how good your eyesight, you will feel like a blind person in the dark but with the flickering light of a candle, sight is regained.
God is light declares 1 John 1:5, this light symbolizes both God’s knowledge and purity, therefore, the light of God is the only thing that helps us see in the darkness.
The word of God is the light that gives us knowledge, the knowledge that gives wisdom and revelation.
The entrance of thy words giveth light and understanding to the simple declare Psalm 119:130. Some people may not know it, but we all have two sets of eyes. The physical eyes with which we see and appreciate the world around us and the spiritual eyes with which we see the things of the spirit and to see in the dark.
You may have noticed that during the day, when it is light and bright, every challenge and problem seems small but once it gets dark, the worries and fears crowd flood in.
There is nothing fearful in the dark- God can use the dark to teach us some things, there are so many things we can only learn in the dark as Daniel did.
Sometimes what is hidden in the dark can only be revealed in the dark. Nebuchadnezzar had a dream he refused to share but to save their lives, Daniel had to seek the Lord in the dark according to Matthew 10:27 to reveal to him in the dark what he needed to tell Nebuchadnezzar in the open.
Then was the secret revealed in vs 19 in a night vision—Daniel either dreamed it, or it was impressed upon his mind by inspiration from the light and knowledge of God.
God desires to teach us some things about Him that we can only see, learn, and understand in the dark because most times, which is the only time He has our undivided attention.
According to Ephesians 5:13, everything is exposed and made visible by the light of God, meaning, nothing can keep hiding once the light of God shines on it.
1 Thessalonians calls us children of light and day not dark and night, and as children of God we enjoy both His light and life because we belong to Him, He will reveal to us things others cannot understand, and bring to the understanding things no one else can teach us.
When our eyes become luminous, we no longer walk as blind heathens, ignorant in the darkness of prejudices because the light of God lightens our mind and spirit.
Vs 22 states that God reveals deep and secret things, because God alone knows what is in the darkness, His light overshadows the darkness and allows us to see those deep secrets that are only visible through spiritual sight.
Sinners hate the light; they are enemies to knowledge; they love darkness; they will not receive instructions, and their deeds are such as cannot bear the light. These are those whose minds and spiritual eyes are blinded, they continue in spiritual darkness because they have not allowed the light of God into their spirit. Choose to see God in the dark. Let there be light!
Shalom
