Leviticus 26:7-8 (AMP)
And you shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.
Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.
To ally is to join oneself with another person, or group, to get or give support. It is the unity or connection formed based on common interest or goal. An alliance is a form of helper, it could be a person or group that aids and support in an ongoing effort, activity, or struggle in politics, medical, emotional, and spiritual setting.
We see the first alliance formed in Genesis 14 when the five kings came together to join Chedorlaomer king of Elam in battle.
Every one of us needs such connection in life, in whatever area of life we find ourselves, there will be a need for someone to ally with us in certain situations as stated in the Message translation of Ecclesiastes 4:12 (MSG) By yourself you’re unprotected. With a friend, you can face the worst. Can you round up a third? A three-stranded rope isn’t easily snapped.
Absolute truth! It’s not good to be alone, it’s best to have someone who cares for you beside you. We must value the companionship and friendship provided by those around us.
There is value in number!
Why would you choose to struggle to do things that may take you longer to achieve when you can rely on the help of the allies around you?
According to our text, you certainly can chase and defeat your enemies by the mercies of God but joining with people of like mind, it says five of you will chase a hundred enemies and a hundred of you will chase a thousand. More hands make lighter work!
Unfortunately, our alliance must be the Godly, wise, and compassionate connection, as 2 Corinthians 6:14 puts it, we must not partner with the wrong people. We must not ally with the unscrupulous, adulterous, wicked, immoral, and even religious people, we must not as Proverbs 24:21 states, join those who are rebellious.
When we gather in unity to fellowship, no matter the number, our voices and hearts create a force multiplied in hundreds and thousands if we go by our text, because we harness the power in cooperate agreement to bind, loss and tear down according to Matthew 18:18-19.
The foundation of life and earth is shaken by a spiritual alliance in prayer as happened in Acts 2:1-6, thousands got saved by the spiritual alliance of prayer.
Nehemiah had contentions in the rebuilding of Jerusalem’s walls but because a had good, resolute, and strong allies in chapter 4, even at great discomfort to them seen in Vs 23 the work of God went on.
God allies and partners with us in everything we do (godly prescribed things), as He did with the tribe of Reuben in 1 Chronicles 5 who were going to war with a much bigger army, Vs 18-22 states that they cried to God and He helped them, they defeated their enemies because the battle was God’s.
God wants to ally with you against the enemy, but He wants you to need Him and cry out to Him. Everyone experiences problems and challenges but according to Psalm 34:15, the Lord’s eye is on the righteous and He hears their cry. Are you the Lorde’s righteous? Have you allied with Him and cried out to Him?
Make godly and wise connections that will provide you with a strong spiritual alliance.
Shalom
