THE LAW OF REFRESHMENT

Acts 3:19 (AMP)
So repent (change your mind and purpose); turn around and return [to God], that your sins may be erased (blotted out, wiped clean), that times of refreshing (of recovering from the effects of heat, of reviving with fresh air) may come from the presence of the Lord;

The word “refresh” is concerned principally with the idea of sustaining or upholding oneself with a substance like food to gain physical and emotional rest. Refreshing is to uphold, comfort, establish, hold up, refresh self, strengthen by the Lord.
“Times of refreshing may come” signifies a breathing time, or respite from all of life’s challenges and pain. This is referring to a time of respite, in which God grants us to repent from our sins and be converted back to himself.
The text teaches us that “times of refreshing” come to us when we spend time in God’s presence. Until we come to the place where we want God’s presence more than anything else, the devil will have an edge over us. Once we see God’s truth, the devil loses his hold.
There are benefits gained only in the time of refreshment that comes from the presence of the Lord.
In general, God’s rule of refreshment is established by His authority and enabled by His Spirit.

The law of refreshment refreshes our health and finances. Jeremiah 30:6,17.

The law of refreshment invigorates us.
The law of the Lord invigorates our body and spirit.

The law of refreshment cheers us.
The Lord promises to keep us soaking in his presence, His grace, His anointing, and strength to keep us fertile, grounded and filled with the joy of the Holy Ghost.
That the times of refreshing May come, signifies a breathing time, or respite. We go through all kinds of things in life that batter our bodies and soul, that may have caused some to shrink back from fervently pursuing after the Lord, others to experience a dry and desert spirit. There is a time of respite, which God gives also to sinners to repent of their sins and be converted to himself.
Psalm 23:3 say He restoreth my soul—that is God brings back our lives from destruction or, after it has backslidden from him, heals its backslidings, and restores it to His favour.
People are always looking for ways to refresh themselves after a long and tedious season, we look to things like spa, sauna, hot tubs, and massages, some opt for swimming or even holidays-these are all good ways to relax and get refreshed but they are all still inadequate to permanently restore the body and the soul according to Jeremiah 31:25.
Refreshment in Christ is a time of grace, and the blessings which God gives to all genuine believers, to experience and enjoy peace, love, joy, and communion with Him.
Proverbs 3:7-8 tells us that the fear of God is healing to our bodies or flesh and refreshment to the bones, refreshment which can only be found in the presence of God. We all need constant refreshment; we should therefore cultivate the habit of constantly seeking God’s presence.
Shalom
