COURAGE

Joshua 1:9 (ESV)
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Courage is the ability to act on what we know is right and good, to dare to do what we should or must, regardless of our surroundings. Courage is what helps us move ahead of fear because fear paralyzes us. Courage does not conquer fear, it simply renders fear ineffective. Courage gives us a confident assurance that we can succeed.
Where do we go to get the courage to go on when life seems too hard, or the obstacles seem too big? We need to remember God’s promised help in times of need, He is always with us. Deuteronomy 20:1.
This should give us boldness to face any situation that comes our way, note that sometimes the courageous thing in a certain situation is to run if that is what will bring about the greatest good.
We do not exist alone, whether we like it or not, our lives affect the lives of others and vice versa. If we constantly forget to rely on God for help or decide not to include Him, how will this affect the way we influence others? Deuteronomy 20:8, are you facing tomorrow with fear and worry? Can it hurt to choose to trust God in every situation? You may end up encouraging someone else as well as yourself.
Why should I fear? Psalm 27:1. True courage comes from God, understand that God is stronger than our mightiest foes: for the Lord, your God is with you wherever you go.
They say there is nothing to fear but fear itself, so true. We are all afraid of huge change sometimes. Genesis 46:3-4. Change may be part of God’s plan for us. If so, what you are headed into will give you joy and satisfaction beyond your expectation.
Mordecai bowed not- his determined courage came from his faith in God. He dared to stand alone, doing what is right is not always going to make us popular Esther 3:2. Those who do right are usually in the minority, but to obey God is more important than obeying people, Acts 5:29.
Psalm 27:1; fear of the unknown is like fear of the darkness-we are afraid because we can’t see what is ahead, we worry more about what we can’t see than what we can see. Our real strength and courage should be in God, be assured that God will give us the light we need when we need it.
It should give us courage when we face troubled times that God remains close by, ready to supply us with love and comfort, we have more courage when we walk with a strong friend. Isaiah 41:10.
When you’re tempted to lose your courage and sway before the crowd—remember Pilate; Luke 23:13-25, Pilate had a difficult decision to make but the roar of the crowd made him lose courage, he bowed to peer pressure, always remember that the right decision could have an unpleasant consequence, social rejection, career derailment, and public ridicule but remember that true courage comes from God and to rely on Him.
Wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it, right is right even if no one is doing it. It takes courage to do the right thing.
Shalom
