SPIRITUAL HEALTH CHECK

2 Corinthians 13:5-9 (AMP)
5 Examine and test and evaluate your own selves to see whether you are holding to your faith and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourselves [not Christ]. Do you not yourselves realize and know [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you—unless you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected?
6 But I hope you will recognize and know that we are not disapproved on trial and rejected.
7 But I pray to God that you may do nothing wrong, not in order that we [our teaching] may appear to be approved, but that you may continue doing right, [though] we may seem to have failed and be unapproved.
8 For we can do nothing against the Truth [not serve any party or personal interest], but only for the Truth [which is the Gospel].
9 For we are glad when we are weak (unapproved) and you are really strong. And this we also pray for: your all-round strengthening and perfecting of soul.

A health check is a physical, mental, and emotional examination carried out to determine whether a person is suffering from any illness or injury. We all get health checks at intervals-monthly, quarterly, or annually, all done to establish that nothing is wrong with us. We even carry out health checks on cars to keep them running smoothly.
Everyone needs an occasional visit to the doctor for a check-up to make sure everything is working fine and that nothing is off internally.
The same is true for our spiritual lives. As creatures of habit, we tend to go through life on autopilot. We often miss clues that indicate that our spirit is not enjoying the good health that God created it for.
We often go to the doctor to check ourselves either by our own choice or by prompting or invitation from our doctor because of previous medical histories, and to make sure that they give us the appropriate medication or treatment for any anomalies.
A spiritual health check is when one evaluates themselves, to prove we are still walking according to the expectations of the way of the gospel and the subscription of the Holy Spirit.
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith—try yourselves; pierce your hearts; try yourselves by what I have written and see whether you retain the true faith of the Gospel. Paul says to put ourselves to the test, as we would try gold or silver suspected of adulteration.
3 John 1:2 shows how important our health is to God, health in every area of our lives. Which includes three particulars:
1. Health of body.
2. Health of soul; and
3. Prosperity in secular affairs.
These three things are so necessary to the comfort of life.
You need to actively depend on the Holy Spirit to guide you in God’s ways, so you don’t get wrapped up in yourself? If not, are you willing to confess to God that His ways are better than ours and that you need the Holy Spirit’s guidance to live above the fray?
Just as with the physical and medical, we need to occasionally carry out a spiritual health check on ourselves to discover if we:
Are still reading God’s word and standing in obedience to the word? Joshua 1:8.
Still proclaiming the word in faith. Joshua 1:8.
Do I repent of my sin immediately? Isaiah 55:7
Are you forgiving your offenders? Matthew 6:14-15.
Are you tithing your seeds? Proverbs 3:9.
Are you asking God for your daily need? Matthew 4:4
Are you trusting God to take you through the problems and into your provision? Psalm 78:7.
Do you still praise God while in the problems? Exodus 15:2.
Are you ready to let God choose what is best for you? Jeremiah 29:11.
Our spiritual health check when done regularly and honestly will help us know to always do that which is right and seemly Godly. We have everything in the word of God to carry out our spiritual health check to the Lord’s standard.
Your spiritual health check should be updated regularly to align your path, your plans, and your will to the Lord’s.
Shalom
