WALK IN GOD’S WAY

1 John 2:6 (ESV)
whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.

We all talk about the way of God, knowing and following or walking in the way of the Lord. How do we even know which way is right for us, which way to go and how to travel on those ways? Jesus says in John 14:6 that He is the way in life and no other.
We must abide in Christ—if we profess to know Christ, have communion with him, and abides in his favour, we must then prove the truth of this profession by walking as Christ walked, living a life of devotion and obedience to God, and of benevolence and beneficence to his neighbour. Thus, walking in God’s way is an example that others should want to follow.
Everyone has a mapped-out way for their life, God has specific paths and ways that we each must take. Job 23:10 says God knows the way that we all take, He will approve of our conducts if our ways please Him. Even when we walk in His ways, He tries us in the fire of life and like Job continues, that like gold, we will lose nothing in the fire.
The Lord has made a highway of holiness that only those who walk with Him can travel on, where there will be no affliction. A way that only those for whom a price was paid down and who continue to remain in and walk in God’s way are redeemed from the bondage and death. Those whose forfeited inheritances are brought back by the family. The highway of the Lord that the redeemed shall walk on forever. Isaiah 35:8-10.
Psalm 1:1-2 says blessed is the man who walks in God’s way, the way that leads to happiness at the fulfilment of desires, the way of God that helps one overcome misery and prevents the heart from breaking when things don’t do well.
When we make up our minds to walk in God’s way, we chose not to walk in with the ungodly and scornful sinners whose chosen ways of transgressing drunkenness, dishonesty, and every unclean vice known to mankind. Believers must forsake the way of the wicked.
Walking in God’s way helps us make our way and progress by making use of opportunities that come by us.
Walking in God’s way should be our way of life, and it is a choice. We can walk in God’s ways or the ways of the world, but we cannot do both like Ahab in 2 Kings 8:27, while Ephesians 2:2 instructs us not to walk as the world do or in disobedience. There will be sacrifices made no matter which path you choose but walking in God’s way leads to eternal life.
The Lord has commanded us to obey His voice Jeremiah 7:23, the obedience that will help us to walk in the way of righteousness and then it will be well with us at the Lord’s commands.
If you ever wonder where you are heading and are confused with where you are, ask God to teach you to live wisely, Ephesians 5:15-17 and pay attention to the way you are going and make the most of every opportunity that the Lord sends your way. We must walk in God’s way not the high road of the world.
Shalom
