Matthew 4:1-11 AMP
Then Jesus was led by the [Holy] Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. [2] After He had gone without food for forty days and forty nights, He became hungry. [3] And the tempter came and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” [4] But Jesus replied, “It is written and forever remains written, ‘MAN SHALL NOT LIVE BY BREAD ALONE, BUT BY EVERY WORD THAT COMES OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.’” [5] Then the devil took Him into the holy city [Jerusalem] and placed Him on the pinnacle (highest point) of the temple. [6] And he said [mockingly] to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written, ‘HE WILL COMMAND HIS ANGELS CONCERNING YOU [to serve, care for, protect and watch over You]’; and ‘THEY WILL LIFT YOU UP ON their HANDS, SO THAT YOU WILL NOT STRIKE YOUR FOOT AGAINST A STONE.’” [7] Jesus said to him, “On the other hand, it is written and forever remains written, ‘YOU SHALL NOT TEST THE LORD YOUR GOD.’” [8] Again, the devil took Him up on a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory [splendor, magnificence, and excellence] of them; [9] and he said to Him, “All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me.” [10] Then Jesus said to him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written and forever remains written, ‘YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY.’” [11] Then the devil left Him; and angels came and ministered to Him [bringing Him food and serving Him].
Can we trust the bible and its content?
When we write something down, be it a letter, an address on a parcel, or even a cheque, we trust that what we have written can be trusted, just as the postman or the recipient of the cheque trust that you’ve written the right amount with your signature and the correct address. If you can trust man’s written word, how about taking a leap of faith and trusting God’s written word.
The word of God is written not with the ink of man but the finger of God. The written word of God cannot be erased, adjusted, tampered with, or changed. In fact, unlike man’s written words that can be tampered with, Proverbs 30:6 says the word of God cannot and should not be messed with.
“Add not thou unto his words”—we can no more increase the value of God’s word by any addition than we can increase our lives by any other means, we are admonished to take care that we do nothing that God’s word forbids, nor leave undone anything that it commands us to.
What is written is written! When decrees and policies are made, no matter how unfit they are, we can do nothing but abide by them because what is written is settled. Kings do not beg, they make decrees, Ecclesiastes 8:4, and Job 22:28. If human king’s written word cannot be overturned, then be assured that the written word of God is decree absolute.
According to Isaiah 25:1 and Isaiah 55:11, God’s word and written plans for you from before time is set and cannot fail.
The enemy will do everything and anything to get you to ignore, doubt, and forget the written word concerning you but hold on to the word for there is a reward in it, Hebrews 10:35, let nothing change your mind, shake your faith or your belief in the written and settled word of God.
Psalm 40:7 (TPT). So, I said, “Here I am! I am coming to you as a sacrifice, for in the prophetic scrolls of your book you have written about me.
What God has written about you is final. Isaiah 46:10 says that God knows the beginning from the end of all things. He already knows what our thoughts are, and He already hears every word we will speak. He is acquainted with all our ways and has His plans for us written despite these but in life, there will be some people, circumstances, and ideas that may want to reroute that word but Romans 16:17 tells us how to handle these.
While you are struggling with God’s written word about you and wondering if it will ever work, remember:
1. Joseph. Gen 40-45
2. Moses. Exodus 2-4
3. David.1 Sam 17.
4. Samson. Judges 16
5. Peter. Matthew 16:23
God’s plans for them were written before they were manifested, every situation and circumstances they encountered couldn’t change God’s plan for them. We must learn to follow proverbs 3:5, your understanding is unfruitful in the things of the spirit. Everything written concerning you will come to pass only by the power of the Holy Ghost. Aligned your confession with God’s written word of you.
Shalom
