LIVE: THE BREVITY OF LIFE

Job 5:26
You will approach the grave in full vigor, as a stack of sheaves is gathered in its season.

There are those who live life like it’s already over. Some live like the dead, nothing meaningful happens in their lives and they live by routine. They are walking, breathing people who chose to exist without enjoying the beauty and pleasures of life. They just live!
Thou shall come to full age-that means there we should not just live but live fully. Have you ever been bored? Bored so much that you feel like dying? There are so many people who have decided that living is too painful to death.
Proverbs 20:29 says grey hair is the glory, magnificent, or splendor of old men in addition to active strength or force of body or mind, physical, intellectual, or moral force and energy.
They say age is but a number, your numerical age is not subject to your mental or physical age.
It is interesting that the young are consistently trying to remain young or to grow up quickly or the old are trying to reclaim their youth, remain younger, or slow time down.
It is a societal expectation that age equates to wisdom and vice versa.
The Lord promises to satisfy us with long life and yet people squander the life by existing more than living. Psalm 91:16. Some people spend all their life chasing after ephemeral things, from home to work and back again, you hear things like “I will do such and such when I grow up or when I reach a certain age,” and they work towards that age and goal with no idea that life was passing them by.
Length of days is a blessing that God promises those who fear Him and follow His commandments, length of days that includes peace, hope, and prosperity which are only found in God.
There are those who fear life, when retirement comes, they do not just slow down but stop leaving, and many dies prematurely either out of boredom or low quality of life, when God has promised that we will go to our graves in the ripe old age of 70 and some with grey hair in Psalm 90:2.
Even as we live our lives right up to old age, Isaiah 46:3-4 paints a picture of us begin securely carried in God’s hands, this is the Lord, yet again giving us the assurance of His continual and consistent presence in our lives-that is from infancy to old age, never leaving nor forsaking.
Our life is a gift to us, Jesus said He came to give us life in abundance, which begins in this life and carries on to eternity. John 10:10.
Life begins at forty is another we bandy with because eighty was the age at which Moses was called, but until He was called, he lived his life fully, did all he needed to do as a living person.
Life is not meant to happen but to be lived. Life is too short to just let it happen, we shouldn’t allow the circumstances of life to keep us from living the life we’ve been given, just as we should not allow anyone to redirect or misdirect us to live the life, they want for us. Let our lives count for something. Live for the glory of the Lord.
Shalom
