Genesis 45:16-23 (ASV)
[16] And the report thereof was heard in Pharaoh’s house, saying, Joseph’s brethren are come: and it pleased Pharaoh well, and his servants.
[17] And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Say unto thy brethren, This do ye: lade your beasts, and go, get you unto the land of Canaan;
[18] and take your father and your households, and come unto me: and I will give you the good of the land of Egypt, and ye shall eat the fat of the land.
[19] Now thou art commanded, this do ye: take you wagons out of the land of Egypt for your little ones, and for your wives, and bring your father, and come. [20] Also regard not your stuff; for the good of all the land of Egypt is yours.
[21] And the sons of Israel did so: and Joseph gave them wagons, according to the commandment of Pharaoh, and gave them provision for the way.
[22] To all of them he gave each man changes of raiment; but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver, and five changes of raiment.
[23] And to his father he sent after this manner: ten asses laden with the good things of Egypt, and ten she-asses laden with grain and bread and provision for his father by the way.
In the age where there is a craze over acquiring the best of anything money can buy and wanting the best of everything, we are the generation most blessed with the best of everything.
God is the governor and dispenser of all things, all things belong to Him but according to Psalm 89:11, He has given us everything on earth and then assures the righteous in Psalm 84:11 that nothing good will ever be withheld from them.
God chose the Israelites as His special people and gave them privileges that set them apart from the rest of the world. The same privileges that become ours on accepting Christ as our Lord and saviour.
One of those promises is the one found in James 1:17 which says that every good and perfect gift comes from the Lord- nothing in this world is truly good unless it comes from above, heaven, down from the Father of lights. God’s character never changes, He always gives good gifts, the best of everything.
Joseph sent his brothers to bring Jacob and the family to Egypt and out of gratitude for Joseph’s having saved all of Egypt, Pharaoh promised them the best of all the land of Egypt and gave them the finest of the products of Egypt.
Pharaoh’s very words were “regard not your stuff—Literally, don’t be troubled about your household furniture, agricultural utensils, or anything. They were not to delay in coming because all their needs will be met to the highest standard when they arrive in Egypt, Pharaoh himself arranged for their removal, (providing transportation and provision for the journey) and settlement with no bother to them.
The Lord says to you, anywhere the soles of your foot touches will be your and it will offer up its increase, harvest and its best to you in Psalm 85:12, and Deuteronomy 11:24.
The best of everything is reserved for you, child of God, the best of the spiritual, material, physical and so much more. The Lord Himself will settle you wherever you need to be and supply all that is needed for your sustenance with no bother to you.
Do not be distracted by trying to acquire what you think is the best of this world that is only temporal, if Pharaoh-a man could invite and offer the best of his land and all in it to the Israelites, won’t you trust God, the Father of all flesh to show you where and what the best of everything He’s prepared for you is stored?
Pharaoh set up Joseph’s family to be given the best and the finest when they arrived in Egypt because he knew they needed those things, God is also willing and able to set you up to be given, to receive and to achieve the best of everything you are through Christ.
Pharaoh gave up the best of everything to the Israelites out of gratitude to Joseph. But God gives us the best of everything out of love in John 3:16.
At Joseph’s and pharaoh’s bidding, the family of Israel did what they were meant to do. Take faith steps that will see God’s will accomplished in your lives by following divine and Godly instructions.
Do what needs to be done for the best of everything is before you.
Shalom
