RACISM

Galatians 3:28-29 ASV
There can be neither Jew nor Greek, there can be neither bond nor free, there can be no male and female; for ye all are one man in Christ Jesus.
[29] And if ye are Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, heirs according to promise.

Racism is one area in our societies that defies explanation and understanding, and it has become a widespread disease. Racism is the more popular and widely used name for prejudice, the opinion or judgment formed without due examination of a person or group, prejudgment of someone, racism is an unreasonable objection against, anyone without just grounds, or before sufficient knowledge.
If God had made everyone and everything the same, life and the world would have been boring; life may look like a warehouse of robots made to a specific prototype but expected to perform to individual expectations and standards.
Racism isn’t new or particular to a certain culture. The prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed towards a person or people based on their racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized is a deep-seated evil ravaging lives and society, everyone feels the effect of it, religious group, race, hight, everyone is prone to the effect of racism.
Most people will ask, “is racism a sin?” yes, because Genesis 1:27 teaches us that “God created man in His image.”
Everyone should be treated equally with proper respect and honour. Racism is a direct attack on the image of God by failing to acknowledge the image of God in the person of another ethnicity.
Scripture teaches us that hatred toward others is equivalent to murder. Hatred can be shown passively or actively. To have a lifestyle of habitual hatred towards others reveals that someone is not a new creation in Christ, see 1 John 3:15-16.
This doesn’t mean that Christians can’t struggle with racism in their heart, because like every other sin, it is a spirit. The seed of racism lies in the heart of all races. We must continually repent of those racist thoughts and tendencies. We must continually pray against a judgmental spirit. We must continually pray for a greater love for others.
John 4:4-9 records an issue of racism. The Samaritans were seen as a half-breed and hated by the Jews in Jesus’s days but instead of feeding this woman’s issues, Jesus went out of his way to have a life-changing conversation with the “sinful” Samaritan woman.
Racism is an attack on the inclusiveness of the gospel. Throughout Scripture, we see God’s heart on inclusion even in offering salvation to all. The gospel undoubtedly opposes all forms of racism and ethnic hatred. Showing favouritism is a sin because it is contrary to God’s character. God wants us to spread the gospel to all nations. Let’s not overlook Revelation 7:9, which reminds us that God saves people from every nation, tribe, and tongue. All people are incredibly precious to the Lord.
When we esteem others better than ourselves something beautiful occurs. Christians will increase in love and unity with others regardless of race or ethnicity.
Regardless of background, gender or race, the presence of Christ in the lives of believers makes us all one in him.
Pray against that spirit that subtly and subconsciously treats others better or worse or looks down upon them because of their race. Let’s believe that God can change these struggles that we all face.
Racism is a scourge that kills productivity, fruitfulness, and communities. We must not condone or participate in it. Christ died for everyone!
Shalom
