2 Timothy 3:13
But evil people who pretend to be what they are not will become worse than ever, as they fool others and are fooled themselves.
I tell my children to always be careful of what they do and say because “every action deserves a reaction,” which may not always be beneficial or palatable to one.
A person’s actions, whether good or bad, will often have consequences for that person.
We say a persons’ plan can boomerang on them, their action has come full circle, karma caught up with them and they have reaped what they sowed.
Isaiah 3:11 says cursed is the person whose hands are found in trouble; the same thing he does to another will be done to him, which means judgment day has come for such.
You may have experienced this or know someone who has, but the implication is that since this happened, then what you have done or been done to you will eventually come back around to you. If you have hurt someone, eventually you too will be hurt. If someone has hurt you, they too will be hurt.
People go through life expecting to be treated in certain ways even when they don’t deserve it.
Have you noticed that such people are the ones who have no consideration, sympathy and compassion for others’ plight?
Though we live wholly on God’s mercy and forgiveness, we are hesitant to forgive the offences of others. Remember the gracious gift of God’s forgiveness to you, so be quick to extend forgiveness to others, like the story of the unforgiving servant in Matthew 18:21-35.
The book of Proverbs is a manual for everyday living, and it tells us that whatever measure we use for others will be the same measure used for us, while Proverbs 26:27 says we are more likely to fall into a pit we’ve dug for another to fall in, therefore, be careful how you treat people, it will certainly be done back to you. And over in Proverbs 22:8, the abuse of power is frowned upon, the power which many uses for abuse, will one day fail them.
The one who does wrong will receive the wrong he has done by just retribution in kind because God is no respecter of persons, the same way God treats masters is the same way He treats the slave according to Romans 3:22-24.
Vengeance is the Lord’s and whatever has been don’t to you should not encourage you to do it to others because there are laws and principles to everything according to Matthew 7:1-2, so you don’t have to fight to make things happen, they just will.
Even though we’ve all sinned, Psalm 103:10 says we’re not treated as deserved or according to our iniquities.
Grace and mercy tamper our actions.
What goes around, comes around. Like Joab who was killed because he murdered Adonijah and Abiathar during the time of peace, even though he fled to the altar hoping to be saved, he was still killed, according to 1 Kings 2:28-45.
Adoni-bezek was taken prisoner and treated with a severity unusual among the Israelites, they cut off his thumbs and great toes as retributive justice because he had done the same to the seventy kings he took as prisoners in Judges 1:4-21.
Be careful what you do to other people; be kind, be gracious, be compassionate and merciful, for what goes around comes around.
Shalom
