Genesis 39-41
Joseph, the eleventh son of Jacob and the first natural son of Racheal means “may God add.”
Are we desiring God to add to us? What do we need to add to us and in what shape?
I believe this is everyone’s desire, for God to add to us-spiritually, physically, financially, and every other way possible.
The spirit of joseph is the embodiment of faith, prudence, and administrative abilities. Despite overwhelming difficulties and challenges, joseph achieved his dreams
The first lesson we learn from Joseph is to be careful with who we share our dreams!
Secondly, only run to people who you can trust, those wise and grounded in the word of God and can point you in support in the right direction.
Joseph ran to his older brothers with his dreams not to brag about it but to seek guidance and understanding but instead what he got was anger and envy because they surprisingly understood what Joseph did not, that the dreams were confirmed seen in Genesis 37:9-11.
The spirit of Joseph is one based on trust. Would God trust you to do, say and be who and what He wants you to and would you trust God to lead, guide and protect you from everything that comes at you.
Trust, when broken, either way, is hard to regain. We must trust the word of God and allow the word to do what we can’t according to Psalm 37:5.
Whatever the enemy tempts us with is only meant to derail us, it’s never real. The devil only knows how to use counterfeits, that’s why he tries his best to get you to rationalize and justify what you do with the word according to James 1:22.
We all have some sort of clothing covering us either to our benefit or disadvantage. Joseph had his coat of multicolour which got him in trouble at the beginning with his brothers in verses 17-18, his clothing became evidence in his story.
The enemy can cover you with garments that block your favour, dignity, and identity with garments of shame that gets you in trouble, the garment that God puts on you protects you, beautifies you and keeps you warm.
Consider how many of us are wearing garments that are not meant for us. How many of us have accepted the standard garment?
What garments have you got on that is covering your glory, beauty, obscuring your talents and identity? What garment has been given to you to identify and expose you?
The Lord was with Joseph all through his journeys, says 29:21-23 and he thrived even in prison because God was with him. Is God with you? Then believe you too can thrive anywhere and under any circumstance.
Even when the people the Lord prepared as our helpers fail to move, the Lord will orchestrate things to raise us a helper according to Psalm 20:2.
Destiney helpers and life supporters are crucial to our success, however much we try, we cannot get far without our prison wardens.
A prison warden as a destiny helper, who knew!
God can give us the same opportunities and helpers- the question is, would we allow Him to work through us and walk us through it?
Shalom
