Then your barns will be full, and your vats will overflow with fresh wine.
To live in overflow means to run over the brim of a container, it is when a vessel flows over with water or other fluid, to spread over, or to be overwhelmed with something.
When the hand of God rests on one, there is an abundance of everything- an “overflowing.” The context is one of economic prosperity promised to God’s people. Overflow is God’s divine outpouring of benevolence on us.
Our lives begin to run over the bounds of normal allowance, to becoming full of superabundance.
An overflowing life is an outlet for the surplus to flow to others, meaning according to 2 Corinthians 9:8 (GW) God will give you his constantly overflowing kindness. Then, when you always have everything, you need, you can do more good things.
God promises to bless us with an overflow whilst Jesus says He’s come to give us life in abundance: life to the fullest in John 10:10.
According to Psalm 23, God meets our physical needs abundantly and promises that our cups will overflow with whatever blessings He bestows on us.
God wants to overflow us with all sorts of blessings, favour, health, both material and financial in addition to all the spiritual blessings. His covenant of prosperity is to bless us with abundant overflow.
Only by God’s free choice is there an abundance of goodness in our lives, and what God says is satisfying to the body, spirit, and soul is enough for all, enough for each of us: God’s overflow for us is always ready and all without a physical price but obedience is required.
The Lord gives us an abundant overflow of all we need, including water in Psalm 65:9-13; God is pictured as walking through the land, and causing fertilizing showers to fall wherever He treads because ‘the river of God is full of water, the rain is its source from the sky, the prospect of a rich harvest is also a gift among the many blessings and deliverances God promised.
Zechariah 1:17 says that through overflow God will bless the cities with prosperity or abundance of fruits of the earth, corn and wine, and a substantial increase of people.
Grace is one of the most important subjects in the scripture because it came by Christ’s death, and through this grace and God’s help, we can continue with our Christian journey according to Ephesians 2:8-9.
We are blessed with an overflow of grace, the abundance of blessings, testimonies, and breakthroughs that any of us don’t deserve but still receive because of “grace”. So, if you want God’s grace to fill your life to the overflow, pray for God’s mercy. Mercy opens the rivers of God’s grace.
God has called us to share our blessings of time, talent, money, service, and prayers and had blessed us with an overflow so we can share our blessings with those around us.
Store up God’s word in your heart says Proverbs 2:1-11 if you long to know God better. What we have is only under our control for a fleeting time and we would be called to account, so stewards the overflow prudently and wisely.
Overflow me Lord for your glory! That I may overflow to others.
