LA LA LA LA I CAN’T HEAR YOU

Number 22

We are all familiar with la, la, la, la, I can’t hear you! We’ve made and still make it when we don’t like what we’re hearing to block out what’s being said. Imagine a child with their fingers stuck in their ears to block out something they don’t want to hear.
That’s the sound we make when we don’t want to listen to God’s voice and the instructions, He gives to us. God will go to extraordinary lengths to reach us, speak with us, and get our attention. Unfortunately, we may not like how and what He uses to get our attention just like Ballam.
Imagine you take your pet out for a walk and unexpectedly, it speaks to you in your own language, but instead of running in fear, you calmly tell it off.
God was trying to get Ballam’s attention to stop him from his intended action when He couldn’t, He sent an Angel to take him out, even that didn’t get his attention until the donkey spoke- the beast of burden was now trying to save his master.
Balaam is the typical hireling prophet, seeking only to make a profit off his gift like some of today’s Christians try to cash in on the gift and talents God gave them for kingdom business.
God tried with Ballam as He does with us always to get our focus off ourselves and our destination and unto Him, again, like Ballam, we refuse to heed His call.
Like all false teachers, Ballam was ignorant of the higher morality of substitute atonement, the prophet was free to go, but knew the true mind of the Lord about the matter. The permission in verse twenty showed both God’s displeasure and a test of Balaam. Ballam blocked his ears to God’s voice over the path of self-will and self-advantage,
because he wished, for the sake of the honours and rewards, to fulfill the will of Balak.
God then allowed Ballam’s donkey to speak which got his attention.
What are you trying your hardest to block out?
Has the Lord been speaking but you’ve your fingers stuck in your ears going la, la, la to stop the words from being effective?
Does the Lord need to get your attention with an unusual occurrence?
You may not like it.
La, la, la has become a mantra of so many Christians to stop them from running with their God-given vision.
Is God trying to stop you from doing something that will not glorify Him?
One of the ways that God communicates His knowledge to us when we seek knowledge for life, is through internal messages and other people.
Sometimes we receive directly from God what we seek and at other times it may come from a particular Scripture verse we meditate on.
God has ways of speaking to us, He speaks silently and secretly, not in thunders and flashes of lightning, like in Exodus 19:16-20, not usually by extraordinary means like a donkey, but nevertheless quite as effectually. Yet, we still don’t listen to Him. We’ve got our fingers in our ears, singing la, la, la I can’t hear you, to drown out His voice.
Stop distracting yourself and listen to the Lord, He’s got some things to tell you.
Shalom
