VANITY FAIR 3!

Ecclesiastes 12:8 (ESV)
Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher; all is vanity.

Crime! Violence! Environmental issues! Health issues! Sexual perversion! Alcohol and drug abuse! And many more plague our society today, some on a higher scale than natural but equally accepted, condoned and promoted.
Vanity fair is a ground for such products and services are, a breeding ground for pride, conceit, lust, and rebellion.
There is an adage that says the dog that refuses to heed the master’s call is doomed! True. The world at large and believers, in particular, have refused to heed God’s calls and warning and are wilfully disregarding Him as seen in 2 Kings 17:13-16.
Much ado about Sodom and Gomorrah! How great was her sin, unrighteousness, and wickedness that God destroyed it? Are today’s society and generation different from the old Sodom and Gomorrah? Not according to Ezekiel 16:37-49, which seems to believe that from that generation to now is even darker, vile, and wicked than Sodom and Gomorrah were.
Sodom and Gomorrah were guilty of so many crimes including pride, luxury, idleness, and uncharitableness, and these were sufficient to sink any city to the bottomless pit.
Pride, one of the most destructive agents of Satan is personified in Proverbs 16:18 as one who walks along and has destruction in its path.
Pride of life—Hunting after honours, titles, and pedigrees; boasting of ancestry, family connections, great offices, honourable acquaintance, and the like.
Pride has led men to cast the Lord out of every sphere of society and replaced Him with a pagan deity, idol, or figure, unfortunately, the church is not exempted from this. We seem to have allowed and welcomed the world to operate a vanity fairground in our church, allocating time for spiritual worship to lewd comedy and jokes, worldly music that sound spiritual and sensual dances that should be in nightclubs.
Pride that makes one think they can do whatever they like in vanity fair and come back to God because He is forgiving but according to Paul in Romans 6:1, grace is given to us to triumph over sin and death not to get deeper into sin.
Regardless of where you find yourself, within vanity fairground, outside the border, you must set yourself apart from the ways of vanity fair according to 1 John 2:16, for all that is in the world of vanity fair: all its boasting, and promises, are only the lust of the flesh—Sensual and impure desires which seek gratification in all sorts.
Short-lived gratification and even these promises cannot be fulfilled, causing disappointment.
Lust of the eyes—Inordinate desires after men, women, the finery of every kind, gaudy dressing, impressive and expensive houses, furniture, trappings, and decorations of all sorts (not necessarily a bad thing but when it becomes an idol, it becomes evil).
None of these things leads to God, they are of this world, they begin, flourish, and end on earth, vanity fair.
The prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32 was having fun in vanity fair until he realised the emptiness of soul and wretchedness of spirit that drove him out of the fairground were all vanity.
Vanity fair depraves the mind, divert it from Divine pursuits, and render it incapable of spiritual enjoyments. O vanity of vanities, all is vanity. Man, the masterpiece of God’s creation, ill one day turn to dust. All is vanity.
Shalom
